Anyone who has worked on IT projects will know of the challenges and stresses that come with the territory. Some idiots, like me, tend to revel in them though and seemingly cannot do without the adrenaline rush they bring! And some idiots, like me, just sometimes need to let off steam when things, and people, don’t behave in the manner expected. And some idiots, like me, also quit in a huge huff only to be coerced back again by a voice of reason. I wrote Wombat after one of these times.

I was walking down the street I was

Just the other day

Minding my own business

Going on my way

When coming out of left field

A sideswipe to the face

And I found myself sprawling

All about the place

And there’s a….

CHORUS

Wombat in the longdrop

Twisting round and round

Up to my ears in the brown stuff

And my feet can’t touch the ground

When I get out of here

I’ll kiss the sky

But right now I’m in the longdrop

Just watching time go by

Well I picked myself up from there

And got back to my feet

Wondering what had hit me

And pushed me off my steed

And I while looked all around

For the culprit far and wide

From behind another whack

To knock me off my bike

And there’s a….

CHORUS

And even now I’m stuck right here

But it doesn’t really matter

‘Cos this time round I came prepared

And brought along my ladder

So when you’re next out and about

And trouble comes to call

Stand your ground and dig right in

Refuse to take the fall

But if it all gets to much

And you tumble with a splatter

Don’t despair or loose your hair

Just make sure you’ve got your ladder

And there’s a….

CHORUS
